Classic American sweets

If you have ever been to America (or have a friend or two from across the pond) then you’ll probably know all about the classic American candy you just have to try.

From Oreos to peanut butter cups, America has given us some of the sweetest and most delicious treats in the whole wide world, and here at Kingdom of Sweets we just can’t get enough of them!

To save you the time and trouble we have put together some of the top 5 brands you need to look out for, a little bit of history and why we love them…

Hersheys

Hershey's is one of the oldest chocolate brands in America, founded by confectioner Milton S. Hershey back in 1873. With a mission to make chocolate affordable to everyone, his candy has been putting smiles on people’s faces ever since. Created with simple ingredients and by simple processes, Hershey’s signature chocolate bar is a true American icon. Hershey’s are also responsible for a long list of other delicious candies including Milk Duds, Hershey's Kisses and Whoppers! Keep an eye out in store for our favourite Hershey’s treats!

Oreo

First introduced back in 1912, Oreo cookies have been making us happy for over a century!

Also known as ‘Milks Favourite Cookie™’ Oreos are famous for their delicious dunkability, and are enjoyed by adults and children all over the world. Along with the classic Oreo, the cookie maker has also been releasing limited edition flavours since 2010, with more exotic options including Lemon Twist, Cinnamon Bun and Strawberry Chocolate. Check out some of our delicious range here but be quick – they won’t be around for long!

Reeses

Reeses was created in 1928 by H. B. Reese, a former dairy farmer for Milton S. Hershey! After being inspired by Hershey, Reese left dairy farming to start his own candy business.

It seems it was a good idea as Reeses products are now more popular than ever and the brand was even named Americas best selling candy brand in 2012.

While Peanut Butter Cups are undoubtedly their most iconic product, peanut butter lovers can also enjoy Reeses Big Cup, Reeses Sticks and you can even have Reeses for breakfast!

Jelly Belly

Jelly Belly is today known as the world’s favourite jelly bean brand but did you know they were first created in an ice cream parlour in California back in 1976?

While they started out with just 8 humble flavours, there are now as many 100 mouth watering flavours of Jelly Belly jelly bean available! What’s your favourite?

Jolly Rancher

The Jolly Rancher Company was founded in 1949 by Bill Harmsen who wanted his company to have a name that seemed welcoming and friendly to his customers!

Bill found that his other products were proving hard to sell so he put all his efforts into hard candies and we will be forever grateful! Today Jolly Ranchers have products ranging from the iconic hard candy to soft fruit chews – find them all on Kingdom of Sweets!

So what are you waiting for? What better time to try these incredible American classics than right now! Shop online or visit one of our London stores to give them a try! Visit us at Oxford Street, Charing Cross, Villiers Street, Bond Street, Hammersmith or Coventry Street.
